Cruising the Seychelles on a Catamaran

When it comes to taking a vacation to an exotic location, there are few places that can match what the Seychelles have to offer. The biggest problem that you are likely to have when booking a trip there is deciding exactly where to live. Depending on who you ask, there are anywhere from 115 to 155 islands that make up what we know as the Seychelles. You could put a map of the area on the wall, close your eyes, and then throw a dart at it to see where it lands, or you could decide to rent a catamaran and take in as much of the area as possible.

We realize that some of you probably read that and already counted yourself out due to the fact that you have no boating experience whatsoever. That does not have to be an issue, though, as you can rent a catamaran that comes fully equipped with a captain and crew to serve your every need. There is no need to fight with the controls of the boat or fend for yourself when you can have someone else do it, all while you sun yourself on the deck or swim in the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean.

We mentioned the number of islands in the Seychelles earlier, and while it would be nice to visit them all, there are some that are really nothing more than just large chunks of rock sticking out of the water. There are, though, 42 large islands that are well worth taking in while you navigate the waters on your luxurious yacht. One of the islands that has to be considered a “must visit” is Praslin Island, which is actually the second largest of all the islands in the Seychelles.

One of the biggest draws on Praslin Island is Anse Lazio beach, which actually looks like something lifted straight from the cover of a picture postcard. The beach is a great place to relax, but it also has a fantastic private cove where you can go snorkeling. If you are looking to get in touch with nature, you should also take time to visit the Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve, which is one part of the island that is perfectly natural and not so much catered to the tourist trade. Nature can also be served by taking a trip to see the giant tortoises on Curieuse Island.

One of the great things about catamarans is that they come in all kinds of different sizes, meaning you can rent a larger one so that you can share the costs and space with friends. The split setup of a catamaran means that you can all have your own individual space while on board, although most of your time is likely to be spent up on deck. With so many different islands and so many things to see and do, the Seychelles can become a blink and you’ll miss it experience. Get on board and see all that you can – aboard your luxury catamaran.
